Responsibility
I'm not really sure what I would do to try to become more comfortable in another culture... I think the only thing I could do is try to learn the language, if there is a language barrier, and learn the customs of the other cultures. I understand that maybe thats the only possible way to get to understand the students of a different background than my own but until I get to that point I'm not really sure what I could do.

I think you identified the most important thing you could do, become aware of their customs. That's where we run into the biggest problems. When we don't understand another's customs sometimes we think they are being rude. For example, Navajo's don't look you in the eye. It's a sign of respect. Too many Anglos they think they must have something to hide, are being dishonest, or disrespectful. It's actually the opposite.
